An amazing duet between Shantala's Jookin' and Charles 'Lil Buck' Riley's Kuchipudi !

Or maybe it's the exact opposite? Well, watching their close collaboration, it's hard to tell… A thrilling moment of encounter between Lil Buck's wizardly Jookin', a street-dance style from Memphis, Tennessee, and Shantala's personal vocabulary rooted in Kuchipudi, a classical style native to South India, set to the music of the Yoshida Brothers from Japan.
Lil Buck and Shantala met last August at the Vail International dance Festival (Colorado, USA), invited by Damian Woetzel, festival director, to create this duet.Don't be disappointed if you weren't there, here's a video of Blooming that you can watch again and again!

Watch Shantala's feet without even having to move from your sofa…

This French documentary film by Olivier Lemaire and Florence Platarets is available in DVD and VOD on Arte TV.
The first chapter, "C'est le pied", of this dance story in three parts, is devoted to dancing feet, including those of Shantala.

Oud and kaval in Spain?

Yes, the company will soon be putting together a new program with Ferran Savall and guest musicians!

For the new creation Impro (working title), a variety of instruments gather around Ferran's soulful voice and Shantala's delicate gestures : Driss El Maloumi's Oud, Nedyalko Nedyalkov's Kaval, David Mayoral's Percussions and Jordi Gaspar's double bass.
Compelled by the unique and specific sounds of these talented musicians, Ferran and Shantala invited them to share a very promising residency in Rome where they will experiment, invent and create together, a new show to be performed in Spain.

...Follow Shantala's foot steps!

For almost a year, the Quebec film-maker, Ezra Belotte-Cousineau, followed Shantala and her collaborators on tour, capturing privileged moments on and off stage. A sensitive portrait through images, looks, and words caught behind the curtain.
This still untitled film was to be premiered at the CinéDanse Festival in Montreal in November 2014, but the event has been postponed to the spring of 2015 after a recent fire accident damaged the venue. We'll keep you posted on the new dates!
